A hero is one who steps forward when asked and agrees to defend their nation. Those mentioned here have answered their nation's call, more than passed muster and now rest in peace.

Dennis Guy Benson  Chu Lai, KIA Dec. 68. Died in Vietnam as a result of a plane crash. He was in country only a few days. He was from Massachusetts and volunteered for 'Nam from Germany.

Dennis Buss  Chu Lai 68-69. Red hair and ready smile, always prepared to help. Helped keep the orderly room in order! Wish I could have had as a neighbor.

Staff Sgt. Francis Cote  Chu Lai 68-69. TI inspector for the shop office. A very good soldier, worked very hard. Do you remember "suzy" dog? You never wanted to set your beer down around "suzy" dog.

Floyd "Top" Flanigan   Chu Lai 68-69. Flat top, ethics without question, a man I respected and was deserving of the respect a unit needed. Someone you were proud to serve with. The best 1st sergeant the Army ever had!

Max "Lucky" Luck  Chu Lai 68-69. Wrecker driver. Mr. "go-cart". Dennis the Menance of the 588th and always trying to play tricks. Helped keep things on a lighter basis. Always wanted to be running at top rpm! Really enjoyed his company.
